| Abstract/Contents: | Introduces a two year study designed to determine if a simple, inexpensive, and quantitative procedure can be used to give a reliable estimate of sand shape. Methodology involves both visual (Riley sphericity index and Krumbein roundness chart) and mechanical assessments (direct shear method, rotable drum method, dense soil angle of repose, and the cone penetrometer). |
