Abstract/Contents: | In this editorial, author Jerry Tarde discusses golf's obsession with perfectly manicured courses. He says, "We continue to be told that golf must be played on surfaces that are green, fast and perfectly manicured into straight lines with sharp edges. In fact, golf is just the opposite. It is every color--more khaki than green in its original form. It comes in every speed--dictated more by weather than by man. And it's never perfect--there are no straight lines and few sharp edges in nature." |
