| Abstract/Contents: | "To understand their occurrence and prevention, off-type bermudagrasses are being identified genetically at the University of Florida. DNA fingerprinting should be a powerful tool for distinguishing unknown bermudagrass samples collected from greens, fairways, and commercial grass sources. The reference standards are Tifdwarf and Tifway foundation stock, provided by the Georgia Seed Development Commission in Athens. We use a DNA fingerprinting technique (RAPDs) which generates banding patterns, much like the Universal Product Code (UPC), to compare off-type patches with the standards." |
