Abstract/Contents:"Our objectives in pursuing this three-year project were to: determine the influence of turf irrigation management on disease and weed incidence, and related pesticide expenditures in perennial ryegrass; determine optimal periods for application of fungicides to prevent or suppress outbreaks of large patch disease on zoysiagrass; study spring dead spot pathogen variability and development in relation to cultural and chemical controls." Some of the preliminary results include: perennial ryegrass watered daily exhibited less brown patch; a preventative fungicide program resulted in 3 percent less disease than a curative program while the curative fungicide program required 2.6 times less active ingredient than the preventive program; total N and organic matter content in soil under daily irrigated turf wree significantly lower than rnder turf irrigated three days in a week to replace water lost by evapotranspiration.
