Abstract/Contents:Tall fescue, cocksfoot and Italian ryegrass were grown at 12, 20 or 28 deg C in long or short days. The number of leaves on the primary tillers and the rate of increase in this number decreased in the order cocksfoot ) Italian ryegrass ) tall fescue. Fresh weight of tops of primary tillers was highest in Italian ryegrass at 12 or 20 deg and in cocksfoot at 28 deg . Growth of the primary tiller as shown by fresh weight and secondary tiller production decreased in the order Italian ryegrass ) cocksfoot ) tall fescue. Growth of roots decreased in the same order.
