| Abstract/Contents: | Reports on a series of studies conducted to examine the effect of subsurface injection of nitrogen fertilizers on golf course turf. Trends were generally consistent over all the studies. Subsurface injection of nitrogen resulted in greater clipping yields, plant tissue nitrogen content, turfgrass quality and color than surface application of nitrogen or subsurface injection of water only. Subsurface injection of either nitrogen or water tended to increase moisture stress resistance. Subsurface injection sometimes caused unacceptable striping of the turf, but leaving surface roller washers on while injecting the nitrogen reduced this striping. |
