Abstract/Contents:"Fungicides were applied with a CO₂ pressurized (34 psi) sprayer equipped with a flat-fan (8010) nozzle, and calibrated to deliver 2.5 gal water per 1000 sq ft. Treatments were applied on 14 or 21 day intervals on the dates footnoted in the data table. Soil was a Chillum silt loam with a pH of 6.0 and 2.5% OM. Turf was mowed to a height of 0.60 inches, and was fertilized with 2.0 lb N/1000 sq ft/yr in the fall. Plots were 5 ft x 5 ft, and were arranged in a randomized complete block with four replications. Percent of plot area blighted was assessed visually on a linear 0 to 100% scale where 0=entire plot area green and healthy, and 100=entire plot area blighted. Ratings exceeding 2% blight would be considered unacceptable for golf course greens and tees. Disease pressure progressed from light to moderate in late Jun and early Jul to severe from mid-Jul until the study was concluded. Data collected from 24 Jun to 15 Jul showed that scheduled applications of all treatments provided an exceptional level of brown patch control. Treatments were last applied on either 1 Jul or 8 Jul. By 22 Jul, plots last treated on 8 Jul with Daconil Weather Stick + Banner MAXX had unacceptable levels of brown patch. There was a significant blight difference between rates of the aforementioned tank-mix combination on all remaining dates. Similarly, Thalonil + Banner MAXX lost its effectiveness after 22 Jul (i.e., 21 days after last applied). There was a statistically similar level of disease control among the remaining treatments on 29 Jul and 2 Aug. Thalonil + Aliette, and Thalonil (4L and 90DG) + Eagle had provided acceptable (i.e., <2% blight) brown patch control on all rating dates. All chlorothalonil treatments applied alone provided an equal amount of disease control on all dates."
