| Abstract/Contents: | "This study was conducted on a `Penncross' bentgrass green at the Turf Research Center- University of Missouri at Columbia, Missouri. THe green profile is a 12 in. base of 90% sand and 10% peat over drains and pea gravel. The `Penncross' was established in the Fall of 1992. During the course of the study the green was mowed each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 0.156 inch. Fertility levels were maintained at a high level with 0.38 lb of nitrogen per 1000 sq ft applied every 3 weeks. Moisture levels were maintained through infrequent watering plus daily syringes as needed to keep surface temperatures down. Weather conditions favored only three short, moderate infection periods for dollar spot. Fungicide treatments were initiated 30 May and sequentially applied on 13 Jun and 27 Jun. Plots were 5 ft x 5 ft replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block. Treatments were applied with a CO² backpack sprayer, walking speed of 3 mph, using TeeJet XR8008 tips delivering 56 gpa at 20 psi. Dollar spot was already present o 30 May with the first application of fungicides. Evaluations for quality and % infection were taken on 10 Jun and 10 Jul. Quality was rated on a scale of 1 to 9 with 9 equal to the best. Percent disease was rated on a scale of 0 to 100 with 100 equal to complete coverage of the plot by the disease." |
