| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicide treatments were evaluated on an experimental bentgrass green at the Turf Field Center, NCSU, Raleigh, NC. The soil was a USGA specified sand/peat mix (pH~6.5). The plots received conventional golf course management and were maintained at 0.25 in height. Six applications of fertilizer (Jan-Jun) were applied at a rate of 0.5 lb N/1000 sq ft. One application of Scotts Crabgrass/Goosegrass Control was applied during the Spring. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications of plots 5 ft by 5 ft. All treatments were applied using a 12-volt diaphragm pump sprayer at 40 psi using 8004 VP flat-fan Teejet nozzles at a rate of 2.5 gal water/1000 sq ft. Treatments were initiated on 3 Jul and repeated on corresponding 14 day intervals. Air temperature on days of application averaged 85 F and soil temperature averaged 83 F. Turf quality and % brown patch were rated periodically. Conditions for disease development were moderated during the test period. Formulations of Lynx and Daconil provided the best overall control of brown patch. The three Daconil formulations tested provided the best turf quality. Plots treated with the combination of Banner Maxx + Subdue Maxx + Daconil showed growth regulating effects (dark green)." |
