Abstract/Contents:"Fungicide treatments were evaluated on an experimental bentgrass green at the Turf Field Center, NCSU, Raleigh, NC. The soil was a `sand-amended' Cecil clay loam (pH~6.5). The plots received conventional golf course management and were maintained at a 0.25 in height. Six applications of fertilizer (Jan-Jun) were applied at a rate of 0.5 lb N/1000 sq ft. One application of Scotts Crabgrass/Goosegrass Control was applied during the Spring. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with foru replications of plots 5 ft by 5 ft. All treatments were applied using a 12-volt diaphragm pump sprayer at 40 psi using 8004 VP flat-fan Teejet nozzles at a rate of 2.5 gal water per 1000 sq ft. Treatments were initiated on 20 Jun and repeated on a 14-day interval throughout the summer. Air temperature on days of application averaged 85 F and soil temperature averaged 82 F. Turf quality and % brown patch were rated periodically. Conditions for decline were mild throughout the summer. The combinations of Chipco 26019 + Heritage, Bayleton + Heritage, and alternate treatments of Sentinel+ Daconil Ultrex/Daconil Ultrex provided the best disease control. Subdue Maxx and Subdue did not improve turf quality. Treatments providing the best turf quality included Prostar + Fore, Subdue Maxx + Daconil, and Heritage + Bayleton. Plots treated with Sentinel and Chipco 26019 + Banner showed growth regulating effects (dark green). Plots treated with Rubigan were lighter green during hot weather."
