| Abstract/Contents: | "Experiments for control of Typhula blight (gray snow mold) were performed on predominantly Kentucky bluegrass fairways at the Breckenridge Golf Course, Breckenridge, CO (elev. 9,300 ft) and Vail Golf Club, Vail, CO (elev. 8,000 ft) where the Typhula blight fungi are a recurrent problem. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block with four replications. Individual plots measured 5 ft X 5 ft. Fungicides were applied on 10 Oct 95 (Breckenridge) and 19 Oct 95 (Vail). A CO²-powered plot sprayer equipped with 8003 Tee-jet nozzles delivered the fungicides at 30 psi. All fungicides were applied in the equivalent of 5 gal water/1000 sq ft. Fungicide effectiveness was evaluated following snowmelt on 3 May and 22 May 96 at Vail and Breckenridge respectively. At Breckenridge, Typhula blight occurred consistently. Chipco 26019 in combination with Turfcide, Aliette and Fore, and Prostar, gave control as good as Turfcide alone, Chipco 26019 (8 fl oz) alone, and Turfcide with Heritage, Eagle, Banner, Daconil 2787, and Bayleton. At Vail, Typhula blight occurred with Fusarium patch. Chipco 26019 at 4 or 8 oz rates in combinations with Daconil 2787, Turfcide or Prostar performed well. Banner Maxx with Medallion and Prostar with Turfcide also gave good control. However, none of these were significantly better than Turfcide alone. Differences between the two sites may reflect the difficulty separating these diseases when evaluations were made." |
