Abstract/Contents:"The study was located on a golf course rough at Valley View Golf Course in Akron, Ohio. Applications were made 23 Aug to plots 8 x 10 ft (2.4 x 3.1m) arranged in a RBC, replicated 4 times. The formulations were tank mixed with various concentrations of an organosilicone surfactant (OSS). Tank mixes were applied with a CO₂ sprayer and TeeJet™ 8015 nozzles at 60 psi (4.22 kg/cm²) pressure that delivered a volume of 3 gal/1000 ft² (1222 liter/ha). After all treatments were applied the area was irrigated with approximately 3.8 inch (1 cm) of water using the golf course system. Environmental conditions at the time of treatment were as follows: White grubs: approximately 25/ft², 60% NMC 3^D]rd instars, 40% JB 2ⁿd and 3^D]rd instars; Turf: level, dew, 2 inch (5 cm) ht, 30% bentgrass, 30% crabgrass, 20% annual bluegrass, and 20% Kentucky Bluegrass, 1/8 inch thatch; Soil: moist, 78°F at 1 inch (2.5 cm) and 80°F at 3 inch (7.6 cm); Weather: clear, 76°F, 0-3 mph wind. Efficacy data taken 27 Sep (25 DAT) were based on the number of live larvae in six samples 7 x 7 inch (17.8 x 17.8 cm) in from each plot. Analysis of variance was done on plot total transformed to log (X+1) and means separated by LSD test at P = 0.05. The surfactant improved the efficacy of Sevin at all concentrations. It did not affect performance of the other insecticides. No phytotoxicity was observed."
