| Abstract/Contents: | "The experiment was conducted on a golf course fairway in Moultonboro, NH. Plots were 10 x 100 ft, replicated 4 times. Treatments were timed to coincide as close as possible with first adult emergence. Adults were first seen 22 May and treatments were applied 26 May. The second application of Dursban was applied on 9 Jun, 2 weeks later. Treatments were applied with a Chempro hydraulic sprayer and a walking boom in 1.5 gal water/1000 ft². After treatment, all plots were irrigated with 0.5 inch water. Plots were rated on 14 Jul by counting the number of live grubs in two 0.35 ft² plugs per plot. Conditions at the time of treatment on 26 May were: air temperature 50°F; wind, 2 MPH; sky, cloudy; soil temperature, 1 inch 51°F; thatch depth, 0.5 inch; soil pH, 5.9; slope, 0%; soil texture, loam, 50% sand, 40% silt, 10% clay; soil organic matter, 9.7%; soil moisture, 30.1%. All treatments performed well, significantly reducing larval population. There were no significant differences among the chemical treatments. No phytotoxicity was observed." |
