Abstract/Contents:"America's nursery industry has undergone big changes in the last decade, changes that benefit its customers and offer opportunity- and risk- to growers. The recession weeded out nurseries in an industry that, in some regions, had grown extremely competitive. Many of those that hung on and flourished have answered consumers' call for new and unique plant materials. As a result, the variety of nursery plants has grown phenomenally. Plants are available that fit just about any niche imaginable. The diversity includes those that are easier to maintain, that use less water and are more resistant to pests, disease and weather extremes. Flowers and shrubs flower longer through the year and come in a wider range of colors."
