Abstract/Contents: | "The yard trimmings collection programs that started in July, 1997 are part of an effort by the City of Salem and Marion County to increase waste diversion that last year saw the county top 29 percent...Although starting up the program in the Salem area means that most of the county's population has access to a centralized composting program, the county hopes to expand the program to the four other cities with populations over 4,000, the cutoff for state-required curbside recycling." |
