Abstract/Contents: | Suggests that new information about the nature and extent of waterborne pesticides is emerging. These new insights can be used to fill in gaps of knowledge on water quality and insure that water quality management and regulations reflect actual environmental conditions. Finding pesticides in unexpected places may point out that pesticides could be reacting differently in the environment that scientists had predicted. Another assumption that has been recently questioned is that the key source of pesticide is agriculture. Federal agencies have a unique tast in front of them, to explain in terms of their significance what these findings mean for humans and the ecosystem and to revise management and regulatory procedures accordingly. |
