| Abstract/Contents: | F. heterosporum [Gibberella gordonia] was found colonizing C. purpurea on Lolium perenne. When tested against C. purpurea isolates from other grasses, it colonized only the anamorph forms of those from L. perenne and Agropyron repens and not those of 3 other spp. G. gordonia isolated from wheat was unable to colonize the sphacelial forms of any of the different C. purpurea collections. The restricted and specialized host range of G. gordonia is discussed in relation to biological control of C. purpurea. |
