Abstract/Contents: | The presence of a dinitroaniline-resistant biotype of goosegrass was confirmed in the northeastern area of South Carolina. It was also found in seven adjoining counties. It showed resistance to seven dinitroaniline herbicides but not to herbicides from six other chemical groups. One biotype was not affected by trifluralin (a,a,a-trifluoro-2,6-dinitro-N,N-dipropyl-p-toluidine) at 3.4 kg ai/ha where a dinitroanilinesusceptible biotype was controlled at 0.3 kg/ha. Under similar conditions, another biotype showed resistance to trifluralin at 0.6 kg/ha but was controlled at 1.1 kg/ha, indicating that at least two unique biotypes may exist. |
