| Abstract/Contents: | "Cultivars in monostands and in mixtures of perennial ryegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, timothy and miscellaneous species were tested for tolerance to simulated sportsfield wear over a 3-yr period. Resistance to simulated wear as determined by tiller densities at the end of the experiment was greatest in perennial ryegrass, followed by Kentucky bluegrass, timothy and miscellaneous species. Monostands of Manhattan ryegrass and mixtures of Manhattan with Merion or Sydsport Kentucky bluegrass were identified as most wear-resistant." |
