| Abstract/Contents: | Research was conducted to determine the effects of sequential low-dose growth retardant applications on the quality and clipping yield of creeping bentgrass. The study was conducted on a mature stand of 'Penncross' creeping bentgrass located at Mead, Nebraska. Initial treatment date was May 14, 1992. Sequential treatments were applied on June 14, July 9, August 7, and September 7, 1992. Harvest weights (Table 1) fluctuated throughout the study. Significant differences among treatments were exhibited on May 25, June 15, July 27, August 31, and September 22. Leaf width data are shown in Table 2. A typical rate response to PGR applications did not appear evident in this study. Clipping yields of PGR treated plots were often higher than the untreated control. |
