Abstract/Contents: | Soaking, droplet, agar, and apothecial tests were compared. A positive correlation was observed between the results of the soaking test and germination of Lolium perenne seeds and also between those of the soaking and the apothecial tests. The agar method did not relate consistently to any other method but was considered to be useful for detecting the viability of the fungus quickly and was therefore more practical than the apothecial test. The soaking test was the most reliable for determining degree of germination damage caused by the disease. |
