Abstract/Contents:In a 4-year trial, 6 L. perenne cvs (Pelo, Manhattan, Loretta, Sprinter, Ensporta and Score) were grown with P. pratensis cv. Enmundi in mixtures containing 25 or 50% L. perenne. The mixtures were watered or not-watered and subjected to studded roller wear. The amount of growth, disease incidence and sward cover were noted. Manhattan and Sprinter decreased markedly whereas Score survived the best in unworn plots. Wear treatment arrested the decline in proportion of L. perenne which occurred on unworn plots and reduced cv. differences. Watering encouraged invasion by P. annua, P. trivialis and Agrostis spp.
