Abstract/Contents: | Presents a 1992 study conducted to evaluate the persistence and visual quality of experimental and commercially available turf-type tall fescue cultivars. 92 cultivars were seeded and visual quality ratings were recorded monthly. Cultivars such as Tomahawk, SR8210, ZPS-UL and Hounddog performed in the top 15% for two years. Concludes that tall fescue offers wear tolerance, drought avoidance and overall reduced maintenance. Recommendations for pure fescue stands are limited due to lack of consistent data on winter hardiness. |
