| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted in phases to develop performance driven management system standards that can be utilized by golf course superintendents in Wisconsin. The phases address grow in (year 1), maturation (years 2-4), species transition (years 5-7) and species conversion and management (years 8-10). Three management systems with pre-determined perfomance standards were compared. They are: system I (championship conditions management), system II (private golf facility management), and system III (public, daily fee conditions management). Presents data from 1995 (phase two), which focused on various cultural management strategies to establish performance driven standards. Three bentgrass cultivars were seeded in May, 1994 on experimental greens constructed with support from the Wisconsin Golf Course Superintendents Association. Ball roll and visual quality were analyzed as they were influenced by cultivar, management system and root-zone. Ball roll response to systems management and the systems/cultivar interaction was significant. For each cultivar, system I had the farthest roll followed by II and III. |
