Abstract/Contents:Presents a study that evaluates plant growth regulators applied throughout the season to turf under different fertility regimes for mowing reduction, visual quality and thatch levels. Primo, Cutless, Embark, and Turf Enhancer were applied to a Kentucky bluegrass lawn. Mowing intervals, visual quality ratings, necrotic ringspot incidence, and thatch levels were recorded. Concludes that plant growth regulators offer mowing reductions depending on the level of nitrogen fertility. Other results include: regardless of the PGR used, regulation greater than 40% led to unacceptable turf quality, Embark over a 3-year period was associated with significant necrotic ringspot incidence, and Primo offered the most consistent growth regulation without compromising turf quality.
