Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to measure losses of nitrogen and phosphorus in surface runoff water and of nitrate-N in leachate from Kentucky bluegrass grown on a site that simulates urban lawns. Concludes that subsoil compaction, layering of topsoil over subsoil, and clipping removal vs. mulching had no significant influences on the amount of runoff. Also concludes that the types of soil disturbances that often occur in urban landscapes do not accentuate surface runoff of N and P losses from properly maintained turf. |
