| Abstract/Contents: | Describes a project to establish an insect reference collection representative of the insect fauna found at the O.J. Noer Turfgrass Research and Education Facility (emphasizing turf and ornamental pests) and to monitor pest insect population levels to provide a database for future use. Describes the collection methods and traps used. Lepidopteran pests and June beetle populations were smaller at the facility compared to the rest of the state. Discusses how the collected specimens can be used to teach identification courses on turf and ornamental pests. Emphasizes that other means of collection should be explored to build a more accurate collection. |
