| Abstract/Contents: | "From 1980 to 1983 the German Turf Society carried out an experiment to test the turf properties of normal seed mixtures RSM 80 on altogether 6 different sites. Twenty-two variants of RSM 2, RSM 3 and RSM 4 had been selected. The growth increase = growth between two clippings showed the following tendencies: The growth increase was small because of the extreme climatic conditions - the cold winter with lots of snow was followed by a hot, dry summer. rhere were only occasionally differences between the variants of the individual RSM caused by variety or mixture. The difference in the growth increase was considerable in the locations examined. This was due mainly to the fact that two plots had been irrigated additionally. Reciprocal effects (RSM 4) of location and variant were obvious only occasionally. They are an indication of a uniform reaction of tested variants to site conditions. Conclusion: The growth rate of a turf sward as expressed by the growth increase is much more influenced by the conditions of location than by the varieties used in the mixtures or by their proportional percentage in the mixtures." |
