Abstract/Contents:Explains that starting a new lawn from seed can be a very rewarding experience. When deciding to replace a new lawn or start from scratch, early fall is the best time to do so. The warm soil and rain helps the new grass to become established quickly. In addition fewer annual weeds are germinating during this period so there is less competition for the seeds. When making plans for your lawn be sure to take into consideration what the lawn is going to be used for. There are four steps to get you started: 1) remove sod and weeds, 2) prepare a seedbed, 3) sow the seed, 4) care and maintenance.
