Abstract/Contents:"Four Agrostis sp. varieties, 'Penncross', 'Penneagle', 'Emerald' and 'Toronto' (C-15) maintained at a putting green height were evaluated to determine response to ethofumesate at 1.7, 3.4, 5.0, and 6.7 kg/ha. In one test bentgrass soil cores were removed from field plots treated with ethofumesate and placed on a sand bench in a glasshouse. After 90 days plant height, clipping weight and root length decreased as rate increased but all grass survived. In a second test untreated soil cores were placed on a sandbed surface which was pretreated at above rates. Roots had to penetrate the herbicide barrier. There was no evidence of severe reduced plant height, clipping weight or root length."
