| Abstract/Contents: | At Fundulea, Italian ryegrass cv. Raiar was sown at 10 day intervals between 10 Aug. and 10 Sept. and maintained under field conditions before being exposed to -25 deg C for 2 days. The plants were then maintained at 4-5 deg for some days before being placed at 20-22 deg . The low temp. treatment was given when an accumulated daily mean temp. of 650-900 deg were recorded. The highest number of survivors () 80%) was with 650-900 deg accumulated temp. and with increase in number of accumulated temp. number of tillers/plant and root sugar content increased and root water content decreased. |
