Abstract/Contents:Lists current trends in the golf industry which are having an effect on golf green construction. Discusses the rising cost of golf green construction and suggests two ways in which cost can be reduced without jeopardizing green quality. The two suggestions are: replacing select pea gravel with common gravel for the gravel layer, and replacing the "choke" layer with a geotextile. Provides suggestions for choosing a geotextile for this purpose. Also discusses some cost-cutting measures that are not recommended, as the author believes they may yield to a "failed" green.
