| Abstract/Contents: | Anthers from the synthetic varieties Barwoldi (2n = 14) and Promenade (2n = 28) were cultured. The proportion of cell masses presumed to be of pollen origin per anther cultured varied between plants in each variety. The effect of temperature of the culture also varied between the varieties; one plant of Promenade gave the best results at 21-22 deg C, another at 27-28 deg C, while Barwoldi showed little difference between the temperatures. All plantlets obtained were albino, except one from Promenade which had three albino tillers and one normal tiller. This plantlet was tetraploid. |
