Abstract/Contents:"The experiment was established 6 Sep at the Ft. Morgan Municipal Golf Course. Soil type was a sandy loam, with thatch layer of ½-in to ¾-in. Individual plots were 5-ft X 5-ft, arranged in a RCB design with 4 replications. Treatments were applied between 9:30-11:00 AM, in a water volume of 20 gal/1000 ft², using a sprinkler can. During application, overcast conditions existed and temperatures ranged from 75-78°F. Plots were sprinkler irrigated within two hours after application. Target species was Cyclocephala sp., probably C. hirta. Evaluation was made 20 Sep. Plots were sampled by lifting a 15 X 15-inch turf flap and counting all living larvae which were underneath. Pest pressure was moderate, averaging 8.8 grubs/ft² in the untreated check, and fairly uniform across the plots. Superior control was provided by the entomopathogenic nematode Heterorhabditis bacteriophaga when appleid at high rates."
