Abstract/Contents: | Presents a brief history of the Seattle Tilth Association, a community composting and gardening group, in cooperation with Seattle Public Utilities. Describes the activities of the partnership, including distribution of compost bins, and composting education in the community, and sponsorship of mulch mower sales to promote grass recycling. Barriers to implementation of community-wide composting are described. The development and promotion of the Natural Lawn Care Program, a program to encourage grass recycling and lower use of water and chemicals on lawns, is also described. |
