Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the boom in golf course development in the United States, stating that golf courses are currently being built at the rate of more than one per day. Relates the fact that until recently, many found it hard to believe that a golf course could be a wildlife sanctuary, or environmentally sound. Discusses the history of chemical use on golf courses, and the developments over the years that have made the environment an important issue on golf courses. Describes the involvement of major environmental groups with the golf industry, and rates a few golf courses with regards to the amount of environmental concern they have. |
