| Abstract/Contents: | Eight genotypes of Lolium multiflorum 'Lemtal' were chosen to provide a range of sensitivity to ryegrass mosaic virus. Virus configurations designated pinwheels were present in larger groups and were bigger in tolerant compared with sensitive genotypes. Agropyron mosaic virus was used to infect two wheat varieties, tolerant Kleiber and sensitive Cardinal. Both number of pinwheels per group and the percentage of cells containing pinwheels was greater in Kleiber than in Cardinal. Hence certain characteristics of the virus inclusions appear to be associated with tolerance. |
