Abstract/Contents:Sandy loam soil was treated with 4.1 kg/ha equivalent of chlorpropham and kept at 22-38 deg C in incubators. Soil samples were drawn at weekly intervals, and annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum) was sown into the drawn samples. Two weeks after sowing the growth of the annual ryegrass was rated visually. Chlorpropham persistence in soil was dependent on temp. At the lower and higher temps. chlorpropham persisted substantially longer than at 30 or 33 deg C. Temps. of 30 or 33 deg C appeared to be optimal for degradation of chlorpropham in soil.
