Abstract/Contents: | In (a) Italian ryegrass and (b) timothy, the leaf area and plant water content increased to a maximum during vegetative growth and then decreased; the maxima were higher and earlier in (a) than in (b). Plant water content in both species was in the order: leaves )stems ) roots. Plant DM production was higher in (a) than in (b), as were average values of photosynthetic productivity (4.4 and 2.9 g/m2 day in (a) and (b), respectively). F.en s. |
