Abstract/Contents:"Bifenthrin, Talstar F, a pyrethroid insecticide, is currently labeled on ornamentals and for professional use on home lawns. A number of tests have shown some efficacy against mole crickets. The purpose of this trial was to evaluate four formulations of bifenthrin with and without surfactant against adult mole crickets....Addition of the surfactant, Break-Thru, did not improve the efficacy of any of the bifenthrin formulations with the possible exception of Biflax PBO. The higher rate of Talstar F and both rates of Bifenthrin 1EC, Biflax PBO, and Bifenthrin ME provided good control through 64 days after treatment. Bifenthrin 1EC at 0.2 lb ai/acre still provided excellent control at 90 days after treatment. Orthene provided good initial control, but did not provide any residual action....Scimitar provided good control for 64 days after treatment."
