| Abstract/Contents: | "[The objectives of the study were to] collect fine-textured, dark-green plants with high turf density from old turf areas seeded to common bermudagrass [and to] develop superior experimental varieties utilizing the best plants as parents....New plant collections were made from athletic fields in Charleston, golf courses in Hickory, Statesville, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Burlington, North Carolina, and a course near Fayetteville, Arkansas. Many of these plants have been classified as fertile and will undergo further evaluation....Three experimental synthetics have been established in Arizona and California for seed production. Our plans are to enter these in the National Turf Evaluation Program in May 1997. These will also be entered in other trials in the region." |
