Abstract/Contents: | A trial testing 3 cultivars of cocksfoot, Italian ryegrass, spring barley or winter wheat subjected to 3 cultivation techniques was laid out in 6 standard statistical designs. It was concluded that for effective evaluation of main effects, the split-plot design was the most efficient, that the upright split-block design (the simplest from the practical point of view) was the most efficient in 50% of the trials and that if interaction evaluation was desired, the randomized-block design was preferable to the Latin square.
