| Abstract/Contents: | In trials on carbonate soil, a meadow dominated by Poa pratensis and cocksfoot was given 0, 300, 600, 900 or 1200 hl slurry/ha in 4 equal split dressings. Increasing rates of slurry decreased the monosaccharides content in cocksfoot and in the meadow as a whole. Values ranged from 5.73 to 8.65% in the DM in the untreated control, compared with 3.29-5.21% with 1200 hl slurry. Contents of NO3-N increased from 0.001-0.03% in the control to 0.01-0.14% and 0.12-0.59% with the lowest and highest rates of slurry, resp. The NO3-N levels increased markedly from the 1st to the 3rd cut and rates of slurry exceeding 600 hl/ha resulted in an excessively high NO3-N content. |
