Abstract/Contents: | "Third-stage larvae of the Japanese beetle, Popillia japonica Newman, feeding on grass growing in Metromix® 350, a synthetic plant growth medium, were exposed to various concentrations of granular isofenphos, fensulfothion, and chlorpyrifos. Only isofenphos (5G) at 11.86 g AI/m³ (0.32 oz AI/yd³) gave consistent, 100% larval kill. Uncovered containers containing isofenphos at this concentration continued to give 100% kill for up to 250 d after incorporation of the insecticide. Isofenphos shows promise for use by the plant nursery industry for certifying as beetle-free potted plant commodities shipped into areas not yet infested by the pest." |
