| Abstract/Contents: | For several years now waste reduction and recycling have been receiving a great amount of attention. Some people have the opinion that it is expensive and a waste of time. The Yacht & Country Club of Stuart implemented three ways of recycling: 1) Used a chipper to chop up the debris from trees, and instead of hauling the debris away they used it instead of the mulch they were already using. This reduced the amount of waste and saved them money. 2) Placed trash receptacles in different areas of the course for golfers and anyone else to put their aluminum cans when they are finished with them. 3) Placed a Newspaper recycling bin in the maintenance facility where club members could put their newspapers when they were finished with them. About once a month a service comes out and picks them up and the money made is used to help supplement the tree fund for the golf course. Over 262 trees have been planted already from this money. |
