Abstract/Contents: | Storage of seeds of Kentucky bluegrass cv. Touchdown, Victa, P-143 and P-154 at high temp. (37.8 deg C) and high RH (96%) markedly reduced viability. Storage at room temp. and at -16.7, 5.6 or 21 deg with 25% RH maintained a high seed viability level for up to 56 wk. After-ripening, however, was generally faster when the sum of temp. and RH values was between 40 and 70. Freshly harvested seeds and those stored at -16.7 or 5.6 deg with 25% RH failed to germinate at 20-35 deg possibly because of high-temp.-induced inhibition of germination. |
