Abstract/Contents: | Summarizes a healthy and more environmentally friendly lawn care plan developed by the Metropolitan Detroit Landscape Association, the Southeastern Oakland County Resource Recovery Authority, the Oakland County MSU Extension, and the Wayne County MSU Extension. The program was recommended by Michigan State University. Highlights six primary steps in the program including: cut the grass high, cut no more than the top one-third of the grass blade, use a slow-release fertilizer, fertilize in September or October, water lightly and frequently, and consider aeration of compacted soil in the fall or spring. |
