Abstract/Contents:FloraTeX was released in 1992 by the Florida and Texas Agricultural Experiment Stations. It is a low maintenance bermudagrass for cemeteries, golf courses, lawns, parks, roadsides, and sports turf in warm-humid and warm-semiarid climatic regions of the U. S. There are both merits and limitations to this product. FloraTeX does produce seedheads. It is also very responsive to nitrogen fertilization, making it superior to Tifway bermudagrass. It must be kept in mind that no turfgrass cultivar is perfect for all uses. Each has unique advantages and disadvantages, superintendents never know which one is going to work unless they try it.
