Abstract/Contents: | Discusses environmentally friendly pesticide use in landscaping. Suggestions include selecting ornamentals that insects do not prefer and avoiding pesticide use in areas adjacent to water without a buffer. Also suggests knowing the life cycles of pests to help anticipate problems before high pesticide use is necessary. Describes the development of newer pesticides that can be applied at lower rates and are less toxic such as Talstar, Tempo, Merit, Mach 2 and others. Also mentions using fungi, bacteria and nematodes as pest controls. |
