Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the benefits of land application of organic residuals and how careful management is required to avoid water contamination, specifically pathogens. Describes two classes of biosolids with respect to pathogens, Class A and Class B. Provides tables with information on bacteria, viruses, protozoa and helminth parasites found in biosolids and the diseases each of these can transmit. Also discusses the impact of these on human health. Other topics included are: pathogens in human wastes, soil pathogens, and organic residual management. |
